24/7 at eLibraryNJ.com!
|
Hundreds of Digital eBooks and audiobooks are now available for Newark Public Library users from eLibraryNJ.com.
You will need:
•A valid Newark Public Library card. Please note that your account must be in good standing for this service to work.
•Internet access from your computer (you may not use the Library’s
computers to download eBooks or audiobooks)
The first time you borrow materials at eLibraryNJ.com, instructions will be provided about downloading the free required software.
Downloads are available for your personal PC, laptop, or PDA. MP3 audiobooks can be
transferred to a wide range of devices including the iPod®, iPhone™, and the iPad® (requires a download of the OverDrive® Media Console™ app for the iPad®). Some titles can even be burned to a CD.
eBooks can be read on a PC or Mac® using free reader software called Adobe®
Digital Editions. eBooks from this site can also be transferred to popular e-reading devices like the
Sony® Reader, Barnes & Noble nook™, Amazon Kindle, and the iPad® (requires a download of the OverDrive® Media Console™ app for the iPad®). A list of compatible devices is
available here.
You may check out up to a total of five digital eBooks and audiobooks at once.
Audiobooks can be loaned for 7 or 10 days and eBooks can be loaned for 7, 10, or 14 days. eBooks can be returned early. When the loan period is over, the title expires and the item is automatically checked back in. At this time, you can delete the expired files from your computer.
Additional eBooks which are in the public domain may be downloaded without going through the checkout process. Click on the graphic at the bottom right side of the eLibraryNJ main page that says "Additional eBooks Always Available" These titles, no longer under copyright, may be downloaded without login or checkout, and do not count against your checkout limits. This collection contains over 15,000 titles that never expire!
A limited number of “digital copies” of a book may be in use by multiple people at one time. If this number is reached, a waiting list is started for that title. This is known as a "holds list." You may have 5 holds. When an item on your holds list becomes available to you, you will receive an e-mail indicating that it is ready for download. You then have 3 days to activate this checkout. If you do not download within the 3 days, you will forfeit your place in the queue for that title.
