Newark Public Library Cardholders
- If you do not find in our collection a particular title that you need, we may be able to borrow it for you from another library.
- Libraries that belong to the New Jersey Library Network lend books and provide up to twenty (20) pages of photocopied articles to patrons of other network libraries at no charge. Out-of-state libraries sometimes charge fees (usually $10 to $15) for loans and photocopies.
- Most libraries will not lend bestsellers, audiovisuals, or rare books.
- If you would like for us to try to borrow an item for you or procure a photocopy of an article for you, visit JerseyCat. Click "Begin," then click the tab for "Patron Menu," then click "Blank Request."
- Search other library catalogs with JerseyCat. After locating an item that you wish to borrow, click on "Request Item" and complete the form.
- Call upon a librarian if you need help.
Libraries Seeking to Borrow from NPL
We accept interlibrary services requests through OCLC, fax or mail (preferably with an ALA form), for the following materials:
books in a variety of world languages (see list)
- Copies of U.S. patents
- Copies of U.S. and New Jersey government publications
- Books from our circulating collections
- Copies of articles from our periodicals and reference materials
- Compact discs
