Victoria Technology Center

The Victoria Technology Center is located on the third floor of the Main Library and is open regular library hours.

Services:
The Center features thirty computers with access to Internet, word processing and other Microsoft Office products.

New software called SAM™ automates the sign-in process and minimizes the wait—if any—for an available computer. A valid Newark or Irvington library card is all you need to get online, provided you have no overdue materials or outstanding fines over $15.00. If you are not eligible for a library card, present identification and ask for a visitor’s pass at the desk.

Sessions are limited to one hour, with a maximum of two sign-ins per day. At the conclusion of your session, you may sign up for another session after an hour wait.

Printing and downloading:
Your library card or your visitor's pass act like a debit card to be used as a tool for printing after you add money to your account. Printouts are $.15 per page for black & white and $.45 per page for color.

You may also choose to save your work to a flash drive or a disc. Discs are available for purchase for $1.00.

Assistance from staff:
Technology Center staff members will be happy to help patrons with basic technical difficulties. For more extensive instruction, please see the list of free classes available at The Newark Public Library. To locate a Web site pertinent to your information needs, consider the Library’s Guide to Selected Internet Sites or ask for assistance at the Reference Desk on the second floor.

The Victoria Technology Center is made possible by a grant from the Victoria Foundation.

Children's Rooms

Computers and Internet access are available in all children's rooms. Word processing for children is also available on the computers in the Main Library children's room. Students need to sign up for computer use at their local library. Parents and guardians are encouraged to monitor their children's Internet use.

Technology Training Center

The Technology Training Center features twelve computers that are used for a variety of free scheduled classes such as Internet, Word Processing, Résumé Clinic and Blogging for Beginners. Classes are offered in English and Spanish. For the monthly calendar, please see the list of free classes available at The Newark Public Library.
