Create Your Own Book

National Library Week
April 13-19, 2008

Deadline for book submissions is April 30, 2008.

Your book can be a play, a poem, a story, a diary or a wordless story of pictures or photographs. The individual personality of the author is what makes the book creative and original. From preschool through high school, the purpose of writing is to share ideas with others so that the books can be enjoyed by friends and family members.

Have fun creating your own book!

Create Your Own Book Guidelines
  1. Children may participate according to their grade level:
    PreK–3; 4-8; 9-12.
The book must be the child’s creation and in the child’s own handwriting/printing. Preschool children may ask an adult to act as secretary and write down the child’s words. Books that are typed or computer generated will not be accepted.
  2. Children may create stories, poems, diaries, cartoon books, travel journals, scrap books, photo albums with captions, or wordless story books.
  3. Children should choose their own topic and/or subject and may write about a true or imagined experience.
  4. All “books” must be “created” on the official “Create Your Own Book” booklet and completed by the due date, April 30, 2008.  Pick up a booklet at your local branch.
