On Friday, May 4, the New Jersey Hispanic Research & Information Center (NJHRIC) of The Newark Public Library held its annual María DeCastro Blake Awards Dinner and Silent Auction at the Robert Treat Hotel in Newark.
Honorees were Raúl Dávila (posthumous award), Maria "Charo" Juega, and Eliu Rivera. Dr. Hilda Hidalgo received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The awards dinner was sponsored by Prudential Financial; The Foundation for the Center for Hispanic Policy, Research & Development; PSE&G; Berkeley College; Anheuser-Busch, and Provident Bank.
