Mayor Cory Booker believes that one of the best back-to-school supplies parents can get their children is a library card. He plans to get a new one and be first in line to help kick off The Newark Public Library’s salute to National Library Card Sign-Up month in September.

WHO/WHAT: Mayor Cory Booker and City Council President Mildred Crump will pick up their new Newark Library Cards and encourage children, adults, students and seniors to register for or renew their free library cards.
WHEN: Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at 12 noon
WHERE: The Newark Public Library
5 Washington Street
Newark, New Jersey 07102

The Mayor and Council President will be joined by Library Director Wilma Grey. All will informally address a group of staff from the main and branch libraries and children and then sign up for their new cards.
