Newark Public Library presents
entertaining/informative children’s program
The Newark Public Library, 5 Washington Street, announced it will hold a special children’s program on Wednesday, July 19, 2006 that is both entertaining and informative. Actress and storyteller Joy Kelly will explain why rivers are so important to life—plus where they come from and where they go—in her program, entitled "River Tales." The musical adventure explores the world’s famous rivers through bits of history and geography. The audience will journey on the mighty Mississippi in the United States, travel down the Amazon through the rainforest, and explore Africa on the Nile, looking at the cultures, animals and folktales surrounding the rivers. This free event, funded by The Prudential Foundation, is presented through TheatreworksUSA, an organization offering educational presentations by highly talented artists for school and public performances. It will be held in the Main Library’s Centennial Hall, beginning at 10:30am. For more information and group reservations, call the Main Library Children’s Room at 973-733-7797.
