East Orange Author Introduces New Action Hero
at The Newark Public Library
In the first volume of his new young adult, adventure series, The Marvelous World, East Orange author, Troy Cle, introduces the reader to Louis Proof, a savvy 13-year-old kid from New Jersey. Part hip-hop, part physics, the debut novel, The Marvelous Effect, provides an exciting, unpredictable ride when the hero falls into a mysterious coma, only to awaken three months later to a world out of control. The teen quickly discovers that his illness and the ills of the world are connected, and it is his destiny to make things right again. But first he must get through an interdimensional battle that goes far beyond the forces of good vs. evil. Cle will discuss the launch of his new series during a lecture and book signing of The Marvelous Effect, Thursday, May 31, 10 a.m. at The Newark Public Library’s Centennial Hall, 5 Washington Street. According to Cle, he created his character, Louis Proof, because, "I couldn’t find any action hero kids who looked like me in popular literature. That’s what sparked me to write this book." He says The Marvelous World series was inspired by his own vow to create a movie where kids looked and lived like he did. The 29-year-old writer holds a master’s degree from New York University, where he also completed his undergraduate work. Published by Simon and Schuster, The Marvelous Effect will be in book stores this month. All programs at The Newark Public Library are offered to the public free of charge.
