Library announces "bookmark contest" winners

The Newark Public Library, 5 Washington Street, announced the winners of its "Design-A-Bookmark" contest that was held during National Children’s Book Week in November. The event had two themes: "More Books Please!" and "The Very Best Readers." Selected bookmarks are posted on the Library’s Kids’ Place Web site at www.npl.org/Pages/KidsPlace/cbw2006.html.

The top-three winners, with their branch-library affiliation, were Diane Akasike, 1st place, grade 2, Vailsburg; Ana Gonzalez, 2nd place, grade 4, Van Buren; Stephanie Singh, 3rd place, grade 7, Vailsburg.

Those receiving Honorable Mention were Bianca Gradaille, grade 3, Branch Brook; Michael Rivera, grade 4, Branch Brook; Philnahm Prangun, grade 5, Clinton; Joshua McPherson, grade 5, Springfield; Rebeka Bodis, grade 7, Vailsburg; and Louidgi Colin, grade 7, Vailsburg.
