Photos from the 2007 Prudential Foundation Summer Reading Challenge Awards Ceremony
August 18, 2007

To celebrate the accomplishments and honor the exceptional readers from this summer's Prudential Foundation Summer Reading Challenge, The Newark Public Library held an awards ceremony on Saturday, August 18, 2007 in Centennial Hall at the Main Library.

Young readers, who all read a minimum of five books during the challenge, attended to receive their certificates of achievement in reading, as well as additional prizes for the top readers at each branch. Program participants and top readers are pictured below with the library staff members who coordinated the program for each library location.

For the first time, the Library also held a Teen Summer Reading Challenge for students entering grade 9 and up.

Winners of the Summer Reading Challenge poster contest were also awarded special ribbons for their artistic achievement.
