Library announces Create-A-Book winners
Press
Release June 5, 2002
As part of its "National Library Week" celebration in April, The Newark Public Library invited children to create a book and enter it in the library's annual contest. Create-A-Book can be a play, a poem, a story, a diary or a wordless story of pictures or photographs. This year’s National Library Week theme was @ Your Library. Children responded to Create-A-Book contest by submitting more than 200 "books." Graphic artist Carol Jenkins-Cooper judged the entries according to the grade-level categories.
Each of the first-, second- and third-place winners of the two grade levels along with the high-school honorees will receive a Barnes and Noble gift certificate. Those who were awarded an honorable mention will receive a library pencil and paperback book. All program participants received a colorful "READ WITH SOMEONE EVERYDAY" book bag.
