Library to hold "Gourmet Gala" fundraiser
Press Release 4/12
The Newark Public Library will hold its third annual "gourmet gala" fundraiser at The Manor, in West Orange, on Tuesday,
May 2. The black-tie affair raises matching funds toward the library's National Endowment for the Humanities grant,
which will provide a solid foundation of support for the library's humanities-based programs.
The evening will begin at 7pm with a reception and silent auction, followed by dinner at 8pm. A representation of some of New
Jersey's finest restaurants will serve their specialties to the guests. There will be dancing, after dinner, to the music of
the Peter Duchin Orchestras.
Mr. and Mrs. Michael Sacks of Short Hills are chairpersons for the gala, which will honor James Courter of IDT Corporation.
Donald Karp of Independence Bank is honorary chairman. Egon G. Gronau, director of operations for the Knowles family
restaurants, is dinner chairman.
Tickets are $200 per person; tables of ten are $2,000. The public may also pledge its support by purchasing advertisements in
the evening’s program; advertising insertions should be received at The Newark Public Library by April 23.
For more information, please call Nancy Allen at (973) 726-9242, or by calling the library at (973) 733-7793.
