Library to hold "Gourmet Gala" fundraiser
Press Release April 11, 2001

The Newark Public Library will hold its fourth annual "Bon Appétit Gala" fundraiser at The Manor, in West Orange, on Tuesday, May 8. The event is honoring Cogswell Realty Group, L.L.C./Arthur Stern, CEO, President for the firm’s ongoing work in the revitalization of the ever-evolving face of the City of Newark. Cogswell’s major focus is the acquisition and repositioning of older and/or under utilized office buildings in the tri-state area.

Fran and Michael Sacks of Short Hills are chairpersons for the gala. Egon G. Gronau, director of operations for the Knowles family restaurants, is dinner chairman. Eileen Opatut, TV Food Network producer, will be a special guest for the evening.

The black-tie (optional) affair raises matching funds toward the library’s National Endowment for the Humanities grant, which will provide a solid foundation of support for the library’s humanities-based programs. The culinary extravaganza will begin at 7pm with a cocktail reception and silent auction, followed by dinner at 8pm. There will be dancing to the music of the Peter Duchin Orchestras.

Tickets are $200 per person; tables of ten are $2,000. The public may also pledge its support by purchasing advertisements in the evening’s program. For more information on purchasing tickets or placing advertisements, call Nancy Allen at (973) 726-9242, or call the library at (973) 733-7793.
