Weequahic Branch Library salutes Gospel Month with two programs
Press Release 6/1/2000
The Newark Public Library will salute Gospel Music Month in the City of Newark on June 13 and 14 with free programs at the
Weequahic branch library, 355 Osborne Terrace. According to Delores Whitehead, western region branch supervisor, the
growing popularity of the celebration has necessitated adding a second program to the library's schedule. Dr. Albert J.
Lewis, Jr., producer and host of the Gospel Hour International Productions, will tape the programs for television.
The June 13 program focuses on gospel day with Newark's senior citizens. It will feature groups from senior centers,
special guests, and "more." The program begins at 11am.
The June 14 program spotlights Newark's youth and features local youth choirs and soloists. It will begin at 5:30pm.
For more information about the programs, please call the Weequahic branch library at (973) 733-7751.
