Library announces November programs

The Newark Public Library announced its list of free November programs to be held in the main library, 5 Washington Street. For additional information, patrons may visit the library’s home page at www.npl.org or call the phone number listed after the program in question.

Exhibition: “Diamond of Hope and Glory: The Life and Times of Latin Americans in the Negro Leagues” (“Diamante de Esperanza y Gloria: La Historia de los Latinoamericanos en las Ligas Negras”) continues to be on view through December 30 in the main library’s lobby and second-floor gallery during library hours. Exhibition: “Shopping Bags Go Worldwide” continues to be on view through December 30 in the main library’s third-floor gallery during library hours. Call (973) 733-7745.

1 The Frances E.W. Harper Literary Society holds a book discussion of Andrew Ward’s Dark Midnight When I Ride: The Story of the Jubilee Singers. James Brown African-American Room; 6:30pm. Call (973) 733-5411.

4 Hooray for Children series presents the Happy Times Children’s Theatre performance of “Jack and the Beanstalk.” Auditorium; 2pm. Call (973) 733-5642.

18 The Spanish Repertory Theater presents Vieques, a comedy set on the island of Vieques, Puerto Rico at the time when the U.S. Navy began to use the island for its military exercises. The program is cosponsored by the Center for Latino Arts and Culture at Rutgers University and DORCA. This performance includes a post-performance audience discussion with director and playwright.
