The New Jersey State Library has instituted a statewide service called "Get a Library Card Online" (GALCO). The Newark Public Library will issue a card by mail to any Newark resident who completes the online application. Many electronic information resources are accessible to library cardholders. Consequently, registering for a card may be advantageous even to those who do not plan to visit the Library. Much more is available to cardholders who do visit the Library, where they may borrow books on all subjects, written in many languages, as well as CDs, DVDs, and music scores. Those who are not Newark residents but are eligible to receive cards because they work, attend school, or own property in Newark must apply for their cards in person. |
