Library holds theater symposium and exhibition

The East Lynne Company and The Newark Public Library are co-sponsoring a "History of the Theater in New Jersey" symposium on Saturday, November 6. It will be held in the Main Library's fourth-floor Auditorium, beginning at 10am. The New Jersey Historical Commission and the New Jersey Council for the Humanities funded this symposium. Although the event is free, participants should preregister.

On the same day, a major exhibition on New Jersey theater will open on the fourth-floor gallery. Entitled Curtains Up: A History of the Theater in New Jersey, the exhibition is funded by the Friends of The Newark Public Library. It will be curated by Charles F. Cummings, Assistant Director for Statewide Outreach and Special Collections, and will be on view through the end of December.

For more information about the symposium and exhibition, or to register for the symposium, please call the Development Department at 733-7793.
