Friends grants total $10,000At a recent board meeting, the Friends announced the funding of three Library projects, awarding a total of $10,000 for: An exhibition and related programming discussing the Hispanic presence in American professional baseball ($4,000). This often-overlooked topic will form the core of the Library’s annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration, which begins with the Opening Reception on September 14 (6pm, Centennial Hall). The acquisition of The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians ($4,000). Of all the standard music sources, The New Grove is the most consistently cited as authoritative. This new, updated edition will be a welcome addition to the Arts & Humanities Center. The acquisition of new original prints and notable artists’ books ($2,000). This will help considerably the Special Collections Department add the contemporary works of a number of rising artists.
