Library revives Lorraine Hansberry Lecture Series |
SeniorSurf Success StoriesPeople over fifty constitute the largest growing population of Internet users. Thanks to a grant from the Friends of The Newark Public Library, senior citizens attended summer computer classes customized to their particular interests. Two four-class seriesone in July, the other in Augustprovided eager seniors with skills in word processing, email, and searching the Internet. Many who started out uninitiated in mouse manipulation are now visiting the Library almost every day to use their new computer skills. Librarians Paul Pattwell and Leslie Kahn conducted the classes. Plans are underway for a fall or spring series of classes called Webwise: Connecting Online With Your Child. These new classes are intended for parents and their youngsters in grades four and five.
