The Director’s Journal
We have begun planning for the renovation and expansion of the Main Library. We intend to provide Newark with a state-of-the-art cultural and educational center while maintaining the existing edifice, which is an architectural gem.
This expansion will provide for:
- More room for materials and services
- Patron and staff parking
- Popular patron amenities, such as restaurant/café, gift shop, Library store
- Quiet study areas
- A separate area for research carrels
- Attractive space for Library exhibitions and public programs
- Full access to the Library’s numerous resources
- A technology-friendly facility
- Sufficient public seating
- Flexibility in establishing new services
We look forward to this exciting and challenging project in which the community is playing a major role.
