Sticks and Stones Part of the Librarys legacy is our commitment to children for they are our future. Two shining examples of our striving to improve the lives of Newarks children are the Club Success after-school homework clubs and the Library Skills Workshops the Library has presented to hundreds of Newark public school teachers. Also, we place special emphasis on the Childrens Rooms when renovating our Branch Libraries. While Vailsburg is being refurbished, we are working simultaneously on revitalizing the Main Librarys Childrens Room. The room will become a showcase for innovations in library services and technology for children. It will be the model for our Kids and Computers project. Funding for the renovation of the room is provided by a generous City appropriation, which reflects the Citys continuing commitment to enriching the lives of all Newarkers. We are well into the planning phase for the Childrens Room; construction should be completed by the middle of the year. |
