Books for Kids

Delores Whitehead, West Region Branch Supervisor; Idressa T. Green, Certified Social Worker-Pediatrics and Coordinator of the ROAR program; Funmi Songonuga, Children's Librarian, Weequahic Branch.
During December, the Library requested donations of new, unwrapped books suitable for children from preschool through age fourteen for the Library's fourth annual Books for Kids drive. The drive was part of a statewide program sponsored by the New Jersey Library Association's Children's Services Section.

We received hundreds of books, many from libraries in Bergen and Somerset counties. The books were in turn donated to Reach Out And Read (ROAR), an innovative program at Children's Hospital of New Jersey at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.
