"Our children are a treasure. How they are educated will determine precisely the direction our country takes."
-Scott McVay, Executive Director of The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation Club Success, the popular Library program that offers Newark studentsin grades one through eightfocused and aggressive assistance with their homework, is approaching the conclusion of another successful year. This year's program was funded by grants from The Newark Public Schools (for the fourth consecutive year), The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, and the Ambrose & Ida Fredrickson Foundation. With the added funding this year, we not only were able to expand the program to the entire Newark Public Library system, we also will continue offering after-school help through the end of the 1997-98 school year. The seed already is planted for next year's Club Success. In recognition of the Library's contributions to the learning and lives of children, The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation has bestowed a $50,000 grant on the Library in renewed support for Club Success. We now need to supply further financial nourishment to make the seed blossom for a fifth consecutive year. |
