Grants enable valuable services and programs
The Newark Public Library receives a number of grants each year. Following is a sampling of the those received in 1997/1998 from the New Jersey State Library. Statewide Services This grant enables the Library to provide New Jersey residents with access to information and library materials not available at their local libraries. Twenty-two staff members at four service centersunique strengths of the Library in the areas of art, music, business, New Jersey, U.S. government documents, and patents, as well as the breadth and depth of the Library's book collection, electronic resources, and serial holdings in all other fields. Major Urban Resource Library The Library was able to acquire hundreds of items to support the services it providesto fill specific needs and/or strengthen specialized collections in art reference, business, music, New Jersey, U.S. Patents, U.S. Documents. MultiMAC The continuation of this grant enabled the Library to add to our collections and services (in Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Russian, Arabic, Filipino, Spanish, Hindi, Gujarati, Haitian Creole, and Polish) for our Multilingual Materials Acquisition Center. |
