Free Workshops in PTC
Since the Public Technology Center opened last year, more than 1,200 patrons have received free computer training in a variety of workshops: word processing, computer literacy, searching the World Wide Web, creating a résumé. All classes are held weekly, except the résumé workshop, which is held twice a month. Classes are conducted in Spanish at least once a month. In May and June, the PTC will offer word processing and computer literacy classes in sign language. As you can imagine, the workshops are extremely popular and are "filled" weeks in advance. Early registration is suggested. For more information, stop by the PTC (3rd floor of the Main Library), or call them at (973) 733-3603 between 9am and 5pm from Monday through Friday. The Center continues to be open to the public for word processing (only) on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10am to Noon and 3pm to 5pm. Since popularity in the PTC has skyrocketed, patrons are often confronted with "full" workshops. In order to increase the frequency of workshops, the Library needs your financial support. Please contact the Development Department (733-7793) to pledge your support. |
