Beni Matias

Bienvenida Matías is a Puerto Rican filmmaker, educator, and media advocate. Her film El Corazón de Loisaida was included in New York Public Library major film preservation initiative "Twentieth Century Mirrors: America Through the Eyes of Independent Filmmakers." She is a founding member of the National Association of Latino Independent Producers, a non–profit organization with a mission to promote and foster Latino/as filmmakers. She is currently producer/director of the documentary ¡Coquito! with partners Tami Gold and Sonia González–Martínez. ¡Coquito! is funded by the Latino Public Broadcasting and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.

Beni Matias

Working with In Progress, a non–profit arts organization dedicated to paving the way for new voices in the field of digital arts, Matías mentors young artists to help strengthen their ability to present and discuss their artwork with the public. November 2013.
