Get hands-on with sound in our BEATS Program, Drum N’ Bass, and Made for Teens: Collaborative Beat Making! Whether you’re crafting beats, exploring sound design, or jamming with others, there’s something for every audio enthusiast.
BEATS Program (Basic Education and Audio Training System) w/Roc (4 weeks)
This program is an introductory course into the inner workings of music production and audio editing. The students will be taught how to use the studio equipment and learn music production software techniques in a hands-on environment.

DRUM N’ BASS (2 part workshop)
Learn the basics of Drum N’ Bass and Jungle music production using the Made@NPL audio recording booth! This hands-on workshop will introduce you to iconic amen breaks, sampling techniques, atmospheric pads, and more. You’ll also learn how to use Ableton Live, exploring its powerful tools for beat-making, sound design, and arranging your tracks. Patrons will leave with the knowledge and skills to start crafting Drum N’ Bass songs at the Makerspace.

Made for Teens: Collaborative Beat Making
Join us for a hands-on beat-making session where you’ll create, mix, and collaborate with fellow teens! Learn the basics of producing music, experiment with sounds, and build something fresh together. No experience needed—just bring your creativity!

Made@NPL is a community Makerspace within the Newark Public Library’s Main Branch that provides access to in-demand equipment, technology, and software. Geared toward Newark’s creative entrepreneurs, Made@NPL is a space to explore your creative and entrepreneurial potential, learn and practice new skills, and meet like-minded people.
