Kevin Powell
Kevin Powell is a celebrated author, GRAMMY-nominated poet, civil rights activist, and hip-hop historian. A prolific writer of 16 books, he is a leading voice in American culture, politics, and social justice. Kevin has lectured across all 50 states and five continents and has been a prominent advocate for issues such as racial justice, gender equality, and mental health. He is a founding writer for Vibe magazine and the author of the critically acclaimed autobiography The Education of Kevin Powell. His works have appeared in major outlets such as The New York Times, Rolling Stone, and The Washington Post. Kevin is also a filmmaker, having directed the documentary When We Free the World, and remains deeply committed to humanitarian efforts and uplifting underserved communities.
