In celebration of Children’s Book Week, The Newark Public Library, 5 Washington Street, announced it has planned an author visit at a number of its locations—in addition to its already announced system-wide Design Your Own Bookmark contest for children in grades K through 8.

New Jersey author Alpha Deanna Langlais will visit nine library locations between November 7 and 19 and discuss her book, Deanna’s Delightful Day. The story is about a young girl who wanted to travel alone to the "big town" to purchase a special ankle bracelet. Children will find out what is so special about the bracelet and also make their own. For more information about this program, call the respective branch:

The program will be rescheduled for a future date. In its place on November 7, the branch will screen the Spike Lee documentary, When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts. Acts 1 and 2 will be presented at 2:00 pm; Acts 3 and 4 at 5:00 pm. This young adult program is suitable for those aged 15 and older.
