Library announces April programs

The Newark Public Library has announced its program schedule for April. These free programs will be held at the main library, 5 Washington Street, unless noted otherwise. For more information on a given program, consult the phone number listed or visit the library’s home page at

EXHIBITION--Architecture Observed, an exhibition featuring monumental and historic books on architecture, plus original prints and posters, and color drawings by Frank Lloyd Wright. Curated by William J. Dane. April 20 through June 30, 2001, in the Second- and Third-Floor Galleries, during library hours. Call 733-7745.

April 4--Frances E.W. Harper Literary Society celebrates Poetry Month with special guest Reggie Gaines; “open readings” follow guest presentation. James Brown African-American Room (first floor), 6:30pm. Call 733-5411.

April 11, 18, 25 and May 2--"Steps to Success" career and job programs, held at Weequahic branch library, 355 Osborne Terrace, on Wednesdays, from 6pm-8pm. April 11--The Basics (assess your skills and identify occupations); April 18--The Resume (develop effective resumes and cover letters); April 25--The Job Search (create an action plan and target prospective employers); May 2--The Interview (learn tips on dress and behavior, as well as answers to tough questions). April 18-21 --Friends of The Newark Public Library 10th Annual Book Sale. Centennial Hall (second floor). April 18: pre-sale for Friends members only, from 5:30pm to 8pm. Public sale held on April 19, from 11am to 8pm, and on both April 20 and 21, from 9:30am to 4pm. Call 733-7793.

April 21--Hooray for Children program series presents the Robert Rogers Puppet Company in “Dmitri the Astronaut.” Auditorium (fourth-floor), 2pm. 733-5642.
