First published in 1835 by B.T. Pierson, Newark City Directories are a goldmine of information for historical and genealogical researchers, with personal listings, business descriptions, and period ads charting Newark’s 19th century growth. John Prieto will discuss Pierson’s early life and his fierce determination, despite many challenges, to publish the directories.
Open to the public at no charge. Light refreshments. Free off-site parking at Essex County parking deck at 20-55 Bridge Street.
