2023 Black History Celebration Opening Event
The Newark Public Library is proud to host our annual Black History Celebration.
Join us for the opening reception!
This event is a catered reception with a panel discussion. Panel guests Bill May (photographer), Wayne Winborne (executive director of the Institute of Jazz Studies) and Dorthaan Kirk (National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master) will discuss this year’s Black History Celebration theme The Black Photographer: Our Image in Our Hands.
The exhibit, Capturing the Moment: The Jazz Photos of Bill May, will be on view in the 2nd floor exhibit gallery.
