At the Newark Public Library, you will find books and other resources about careers, resume writing, and job seeking strategies. As always, if you need assistance, staff will be glad to help you.

Ferguson’s Career Guidance Center Contains career information, with job and industry profiles, and career forecasting.

Job & Career Accelerator Create resumes and cover letters, learn interviewing techniques, and prepare for related exams. Access millions of job listings. Requires users to create a username and password to store your information in complete confidentiality.

LearningExpress Library Offers interactive practice exams, including ASVAB, GED, GMAT, PRAXIS, SAT, LPN, civil service exams, language and math skill building, and more.

Reference Solutions by Data Axle (formerly ReferenceUSA) With information on over 13 million U.S. businesses, this database is searchable by company name, business size, location, NAICS and SIC codes, and more. There is also a residential directory, Canadian business and residential information, and physician and dental directories.

Other Resources

Our circulating and reference collections offers information to job seekers trying to:
• study for civil service exams
• refresh grammar and math skills
• research companies
• start a small business ( business plans, proposals, and funding)

Computers for word processing, internet access, and wifi are available in the VTC and all Newark Public Library branches. Fill out online job applications, create a resume, search for jobs postings online, check email, or research a company. The library also offers computer classes.

If you need to fax applications or resumes, a fax machine is also available at the Main Library in the Periodicals Room on the second floor.
