Libraries Seeking to Borrow
Delivery to Businesses and Individuals
Newark Public Library Cardholders
- If items are not available at this library, Newark Public Library cardholders may use the interlibrary loan system to borrow up to 3 items from other libraries.
- Most libraries do not lend bestsellers, new items (under six months old), other high-demand titles, rare books, or some media. Lending to other libraries is at the discretion of the lending library.
- Requests may take 1-4 weeks to arrive, because we depend on other libraries to find, process, and send items to this library.
- Most NJ libraries will lend books and send articles at no charge. Many out-of-state libraries charge fees (usually $15 and up) for loans and photocopies. Unless you state you are willing to pay fees, the Newark Public Library will request free items only.

We can process only up to three (3) items per person

- Call the Reference Desk, 973-733-7779, during library hours, especially when the Interlibrary Services office is closed

Libraries Seeking to Borrow from NPL
We accept interlibrary services requests through OCLC, fax or mail (preferably with an ALA form), for the following materials:
- Books from our circulating collections
- Copies of articles from our periodicals and reference materials
- Compact discs
- Books in a variety of world languages
- Copies of U.S. and New Jersey government publications
- Copies of U.S. patents
