Amelia Barros is a second-generation Colombian American artist from Newark, NJ. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Harvard University and an MFA in Creative Writing from Rutgers University-Newark. She is the 2023 recipient of the Bread Loaf Katharine Bakeless Nason Contributor Award in Nonfiction and of the Crossfield Fellowship from the Cuttyhunk Island Writers’ Residency. Her writing, fiction and nonfiction, delves into themes of identity and self-discovery, the complexities of religious experiences and expectations, and the journey of healing and empowerment.
