Film Screening: A Way Out, directed by Gladys Bensimon
Tuesday, October 3, 2017
6:00 – 8:00 pm
Centennial Hall, Main Library
5 Washington Street, Newark
The 2016 feature documentary A Way Out tells the compelling stories of three men of color from Newark. All three have achieved success, overcoming poverty, racism, and more, not by luck, but by deliberate support and opportunities. Their stories are interwoven with thoughtful analysis of the larger forces in society–inequality, bias, discrimination, crime, and addiction–that have affected communities across America, by experts in history, economics, entrepreneurship, ethics, and urban politics. Screening: 53 minutes.
A Question and Answer discussion with the director Gladys Bensimon will follow the screening.
