Join us for the launch of the 2022 Latino Celebration with keynote speaker, Goldin Martinez, Founder and Executive Chair of Get Focused, a social movement that empowers young people to read and exercise. Mr. Martinez will follow his talk with a group fit challenge — all who participate will earn a book.

Kids Breaking League LLC will join us with a breakdancing performance and basic breakdance lesson while DJ Duce Martinez and Millie Milz spins the tunes into an after-party.

Únase a nosotros para el lanzamiento de la celebración latina de 2022 con Goldin Martínez el orador principal, fundador y presidente ejecutivo de “Get Focused”, un movimiento social que empodera y motivan a los jóvenes para que lean y hagan ejercicio. El Sr. Martínez seguirá su charla con un desafío grupal en forma: todos los que participen obtendrán un libro.

Join us for a book presentation and discussion with the authors of Latinos in American Football, Pathbreakers on the Gridiron, 1927 to the Present. Authors Mario Longoria and Jorge Iber will be joining us via Zoom. In-person guests will follow the discussion with some light music and refreshments as they tour the exhibit, Latino Champions: Empowering Communities Through Sports.

The Borinqueneers: A Visual History of the 65th Infantry Regiment

Los Borinqueños, la historia visual del Regimento 65 de Infantería

An inspiring collection of rare photographs which traces the glorious history of the 65th Infantry Regiment, the only Hispanic-segregated unit in the U.S. Army, from its origins in 1899 through its services in three wars.

About the author: Noemí Figueroa Soulet is the Producer/ Director of the PBS documentary film, “The Borinqueeners,” winner of the 2012 Military Channel Award at the GI Film Festival. She has been speaking as an authority on the regiment at corporations, universities, military facilities and community organizations.

These books look at the organizations which emerged in the late 1960’s and 1970’s as a response to US colonialism on the island and oppression faced by Puerto Ricans on the mainland. Revolution Around the Corner: Voices from the Puerto Rican Socialist Party (Temple U. Press, 2022) chronicles the unique experiences of this organization based throughout the United States.

Rescue Poetix will grace the mic with a poetry performance.
