LGBTQ+ October Book Discussion
Join us for a group discussion of Shuggie Bain by Douglas Stuart, the Booker Prize-winning novel that follows young Hugh “Shuggie” Bain as he comes of age in 1980s Glasgow, Scotland, amid poverty, family struggles, and social change.
At the center of the story is Shuggie’s relationship with his mother, Agnes, whose battle with alcoholism profoundly impacts their family. As Shuggie struggles to find acceptance and understand his own identity, he remains fiercely devoted to the person he loves most.
