About the Branch
The Branch Brook Branch Library is located on Clifton Avenue between Park Avenue and Bloomfield Avenue. The library is about a block away from the famous Sacred Heart Cathedral and within walking distance of historic Branch Brook Park. The branch is located in a primarily residential area with close proximity to two elementary and a high school.
The original branch opened in June 1946, and was located across the street from the present location (and near the present-day Wells Fargo Bank). In 1964, due to building deterioration, plans were made to move the branch to its current location. At that time, the building was a VA Recreation Hall. The building was refurbished and redesigned to become Branch Brook Branch, and opened to the public in December 1966.

Special activities are held throughout the year, including the popular Summer Reading Challenge. Preschool and kindergarten classes can visit and enjoy stories, films, and other fun activities. Teachers in elementary and middle schools can schedule visits to do research using the library’s wide array of resources.
