Del 22 al 28 de mayo de 2023 es la Semana de Concientización Sobre la Pobreza Menstrual. La “Pobreza Menstrual” se define como el acceso limitado o inadecuado a productos menstruales o educación sobre la salud menstrual como resultado de restricciones financieras o estigmas socioculturales negativos asociados con la menstruación (Period-action.org). La incapacidad de pagar los productos para el período puede significar días perdidos de escuela, trabajo y vida diaria.
Cada menstruante merece tener acceso a productos sanitarios. La Biblioteca Pública de Newark se unirá a la lucha para reducir la pobreza menstrual al ofrecer productos menstruales gratuitos en nuestros baños y “Paquetes de Cuidado” mensuales. Estén atentos a nuestro Evento del Día de la Equidad Menstrual en NPL, visitando www.npl.org para obtener más detalles.
