My Newark Story is a new literacy program, designed to connect children and families with historic materials from the Library and to engage them in reading and writing activities. Families and members of the community are encouraged to document and share their stories and experiences, and to learn about them together. Digitized historic collections related to the Great Migration and Latino migration from the Newark Public Library’s collections, including photographs, newspapers, and manuscripts will be available in its digital archive, accessible through mynewarkstory.npl.org. My Newark Story family literacy activities and digitization projects are funded by a generous grant received from the Carnegie Corporation of New York.
