Carl “Tiny Prince” Brinson was a writer, editor, publisher, and city worker. Born in Newark in 1917, he documented the nightlife of Newark’s flourishing club scene, and the social gatherings that happened every day in Newark and nearby towns — barbeques, graduations, fashion shows, Negro League baseball games, weddings, political events, and benefit dinners, raising money for charitable organizations. Come see a selection of the photographs, rare publications, and other memorabilia, documenting remarkable facets of African American life in Newark from the 1950s to the 1970s.
