The story of the Puerto Rican people is unique in the history of U.S. immigration. This vibrant community has a long history in New Jersey and has become an integral part of the fabric of the Garden State. Please join us for the kick-off event for the Newark Public Library’s 2017 Latino Celebration<\/strong> exhibit and program series.<\/p>\n

Keynote Speaker, Samuel Delgado<\/strong>, Vice President for External Affairs for Verizon New Jersey. Other special guests include Edgardo Miranda-Rodr\u00edguez<\/strong>, creator and writer of the new critically-acclaimed superhero and comic book series, La Borinque\u00f1a<\/em>, and Nelson \u201cButchie\u201d Nieves<\/strong> and the members of the Puerto Rican Day Parade 2017 Royal Court.<\/p>\n

The evening\u2019s festivities include a Salsa dance performance and lesson.<\/p>\n

The exhibition will be on view during regular Library hours, Monday through Saturday, from September 10 to December 31, 2017. The exhibit is the cornerstone of Latino Celebration 2017<\/strong>, with a focus on Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n
