This program will center two mental health care professionals as guest speakers: Lazora Jordan, LMSW, and Alex Lee, LMSW.<\/span><\/p>\n Lazora (they\/them) is a Mental Health Clinician in Newark, NJ who uses an intersectional approach to trauma-informed therapy and an anti-oppression approach.<\/span><\/p>\n Alex (he\/him) is a clinical social worker at MA General Hospital. Advocate, liaison, and coordinator for patients experiencing acute mental health challenges.<\/span><\/p>\n The program will begin with an introduction of these guest speakers and an overview of mental health resources. The LGBTQ Services Librarian, Lena, will then begin the conversation with some pre-scripted questions to provide context. The rest of the hour will be open to participant questions for Lazora and Alex. The play “depicts two inner-city high school girls who fall in love in a dangerously homophobic climate.” Hutchinson, who grew up in Newark, NJ, stated, “The immediate trigger for this play was the fatal stabbing of a 15-year old lesbian in Newark \u2026but the play isn’t about murder…it’s more about the urban community, the urban family, and how they respond to homosexuality. People need to hear a voice of love and acceptance every now and then or else they’ll just habituate the hate.
