Newark Landmarks 50th anniversary exhibit - Newark Public Library

Newark Landmarks: A Half Century of Activism Exhibit

Join us on May 15th as we honor the remarkable legacy of Newark Landmarks, celebrating 50 years of historic preservation in our city.

This special event marks a half-century of dedication to protecting Newark’s rich architectural and cultural heritage.

Since its founding in 1973, Newark Landmarks has been a driving force in preserving the city’s most treasured buildings, parks, structures, and historic districts. Through their tireless efforts, dozens of Newark’s historic sites have been added to the New Jersey and National Registers of Historic Places, ensuring their protection from encroaching development and securing their place in history for generations to come.

The evening will feature the unveiling of a new exhibit highlighting the organization’s milestones, advocacy, and impact over the past five decades.

Guests will enjoy a reception with light refreshments, historical insights, and opportunities to connect with community members who share a passion for preservation.

Don’t miss this celebration of Newark’s past, present, and future.
