Please join us for a book talk by journalist Nate Schweber as he talks about an early power couple of the conservation movement.
Bernard and Avis DeVoto were a couple who used their pens and voices to fend off attacks against public lands by the likes of Senators Joseph McCarthy and Pat McCarran and longtime FBI director J. Edgar Hoover, but today they are largely forgotten. In a time when public land and free speech are under attack as much as ever before, the stories of their enormous contribution to the movement to keep lands public and speech free are as vital as ever.
