NJHRIC presents
2025 Latino Celebration

HRIC 25 Years: What’s next for Jersey Latinos?
This year’s Latino Celebration marks a milestone—the 25th anniversary of the New Jersey Hispanic Research and Information Center (NJHRIC) at The Newark Public Library, the only center of its kind in the state. Since 2000, the HRIC has preserved and celebrated Latino history, culture, and contributions in Newark and beyond.
The exhibition, HRIC at 25 Years: What’s Next for Jersey Latinos, reflects on this legacy through early brochures, rare photographs, and the support of the Friends of HRIC—while showcasing community voices, Latino programming, archival recordings, advocacy efforts and Spanish-language book displays that highlight the Center’s lasting impact.
Looking ahead, visitors will glimpse the HRIC’s future—from new spaces and resources to expanded digital access. Together, the exhibition and series of public programs honor the past while envisioning the next 25 years of growth, innovation, and community connection.
Co-curated by Yesenia López and Juber Ayala with the help of Katherine Silva Sedano, Michelle Ametekpor, Marisol Coliente, Mishell Lema-Lema, and Jane Teran.
