Black Life in South Jersey with Wendel A. White and Linda P. Shockley

The James Brown African American Room is proud to present the fourth and final program of our 2023 Black History Celebration program series: The Black Photographer: Our Image In Our Hands. This program begins at 6pm but come early at 5pm for the pre-program reception, food by Eclectic Catering!

Wendel White, author of Small Town Black Lives: African American Communities in Southern New Jersey and Linda P. Shockley, President of the Lawnside Historical Society, will shed light on the history surrounding the settling of Black communities in South Jersey as well as their work ensuring this history is documented and preserved.
